Ben Kelly ‘Double Crimped Tinned Wire Cloth’ (1990)

Since designing the HOWIE fashion store in Covent Garden in 1977 with its perforated steel panels behind the glass entrance doors, Ben has used this mechanical perforating process of creating different mesh patterns across a number of different materials and projects. The Howie mesh panels predated the first Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) album cover designed by Ben Kelly and Peter Saville in 1980. The two silk screen Mesh Prints – in Bronze and Silver are in homage to the Harco Products Diamond Jubilee catalogue (1974-1934)
